One-Half of Dancing-Duo Waltzing Through 'TARDIS'.

Hello Clare,
You certainly were quick in replying, a coincidence that we were both on-line at the same time. I got your message more-or-less straight away, but I have been sifting through some information trying to make sense of what I have.
Thank you for your suggestions, regarding 'Monumental Inscriptions'. I will certainly be following up on these.
I do have a transcript of the headstones in the 'Bedrule Kirkyard'. Which does list some of our Veitch and Murrays. There are some Turnbulls listed but not knowing our Thomas Turnbull's family connections, it makes it difficult to piece them together at the present.
So I will just have to keep working on it, hopefully I can come across further 'Monumental Inscriptions' from other Cemeteries in Roxburghshire, in particularly around the Hawick area.
You have been a great help. Jeanette H.

Hi there,
I have the Monumental Inscriptions for the Liddesdale area of Roxburghshire, which has the details for the 4 churchyards in and around Castleton. This is further south than Hawick, but if you need me to check anything, I can certainly have a scan. I also have the Hawick and Castleton census' for 1851.
Cheers, Clare

Hello Ivy,
I do not know of any Alexander TURNBULL within my Family Ancestry, at the present.
I had a look on FamilySearch.org on the IGI, and in the Births there was an Alexander TRUMBLE (a possible variation of TURNBULL), he was born circa. 1810 in Ardrossan, Ayr, Scotland.
I then searched for a Marriage for an Alexander TURNBULL and a Mary, again it came up as Alexander TRUMBLE marrying a Mary Anderson 4th Dec. 1835, in Ardrossan, Ayr, Scotland.
There were other TURNBULLs listed, why not have a go yourself and search at FamilySearch.org
Also suggest posting separate Topics relevant to your own research.
Hope I have been of some help to you. If I come across any connection to an Alexander TURNBULL, I will get back to you.
All the Best, Jeanette H.

Hello to all Rootschat Members, & Hello again to Gilbert,
Recently we have started discussing about George TURNBULL, born 1818, in Hawick, Rox. Sct. (at the following URL). Topic: Is This 'TURNBULL' Family On Your Family Tree? http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,68197.0.htm
********************** I felt it would be more relevant to continue on this Topic.
Gilbert,
The following is from 'Rulewater And It's People', by George Tankred (1907), p233. ........... Of the children of John Veitch and Jean Elliot:- Jean Veitch was married, 1813, to Thomas Turnbull, merchant in Hawick. Jean was the only member of John Veitch's family who married. Her children were - Elizabeth and Jean, who died at Lanton; George, who emigrated to Australia, where he married and had issue; Jane married and had a son and daughter; Margaret and Georgina, unmarried. ...........
****************************** Have you visited this website? http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/default.asp Click On - 'SEARCH'. [Left Side] Click On - 'International Genealogical Index'.
If you do a Search on the IGI as follows, it will list all the issue of the parents: Key in - Any Event, 1813-1823, Roxburgh, Scotland, British Isles. Father: Thomas TURNBULL, Mother: Jane VEITCH.
The Results Will Be: Jane TURNBULL - ch. 6 Jan. 1815, Hawick, Rox. Sct. George TURNBULL - ch. 2 April 1818, Hawick, Rox. Sct. Jane Elliot TURNBULL - ch. 23 Mar. 1820, Hawick, Rox. Sct. Elizabeth TURNBULL - ch. 16 Feb 1816, Hawick, Rox. Sct.
**************************** You could also try a SEARCH for: George TURNBULL, Birth/Christening, 1815-1825, Roxburgh, Scotland, British Isles.
You will come up with 15 results.
**************************** I will leave this for now, as it is nearly 4.00 am here in Australia, and it is time I got some sleep.

Hi Jeanette I am linked to your Turnbulls because I am descended from Walter Wilson father of your Elizabeth Wilson who married George Turnbull. I got lots of info off a film (1. Jame H Haining, Hawick MIs.)at the LDS which contains wonderful information on people of this area. Well worth having a look if you can. I photocopied some of them which I will have a look at and see if I can find more for you. regards Trish New Zealand

Hello Trish,
Welcome, it is good to hear from you, also it is great that we have a mutual connection between our family histories. There must be quite a few of us out there, as they had fairly large families.
Hopefully we can help each other in some way. I will get back to you soon, as it is about 2:30am, time I got some sleep.
Bye for now, Jeanette H. Australia.
