Can anybody help with the birth record of William Allcroft b.c.1817 in Sheffield. His father was John Allcroft mother Elizabeth nee Taylor, I think, who was born in Darton area( Maplewell, High Hoyland or Royston) c.1797.A John Allcroft married Elizabeth Taylor in St Peter& St. Paul's Catherdal in 1816.  I have no b.record of John but think it likely he came from S. Yorks or N Nottingham
Thank you very much in advance

Hi Chris

Sorry we haven't been able to help you so far on this one.

Have you made any progress,  or do you have any further details that could help someone to find what you are looking for?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes

I am currently tying up loose ends on my great grandfathers family in Darton and district, and will make a note to look for Allcroft

Thanks Catswiskers,  The only record of Allcroft That I know of in Darton is in 1823 a baptism of John son of John & Elizabeth. They wern,t married there but Eliz. gives it as her birth place on 1861 census. There was a mariage in Sheffield Cathedral in 1816 between Eliz. Taylor & John Allcroft So think that maybe them, but by 1830 the family had moved to London.
    Thanks Chris
