Hi again, Ibi, Thanks for showing a concern about me spending hard-earned money on a trip to Scotland, but I actually have very good friends in Dunoon who I'd be wanting to see (and stay with), anyway. Plus the fact that someone who works in the Museum there has told me that I can definitely study microfilms of those Censuses in the library there... It would all be part of an extended holiday, so I'd be having a good time researching family history and socialising at the same time! Keith

Scotlands People has all the census returns from 1841 to 1901.
From time to time I have acessed all of them.

Thanks for that, Rob. When I posted my original query just over a year ago, they were still working on getting all the Censuses on line. Recently I availed myself of the 1851 Census, and was able to find what I was looking for after buying a few units... Very best wishes, keith

And the 1841 census for Scotland is now on-line at Ancestry UK, with the promise of other years to follow in the future ...... it's an index only.
