Wouls love to make contact with anyone research BARR from Greenock, I know that unfortunately this is a very common name, and it will be like looking for a needle in a haystack, but I`m keeping my fingers crossed.
My main interest is in the family of NEIL BARR & JANET (nee Cameron) they had the following children James Gilmour b.1869 (my grandfather) Janet Cameron b. 1872 Catherine Campbell b.1874 Peter Carmichael b.1877 Christina Cameron b.1880 & Cameron b.1885 Most of the children married & I would love to contact any descendents.
Have been unable to trace any information on James Gilmour Barr, b.1869, last known details about him were in 1896 when he was at 34 St Lawrence Street, Greenock, There is reason to believe he may have died before 1918, but cannot be sure of the accuracy of that information have been unable to trace his death (or any marriage) can anyone help?? Keeping my fingers crossed!!

Thank you waiteohman for your reply re Barr.
I have since posting my original query, discovered that James Barr (my paternal grandfather) died in 1913, and that he had been a soldier. In which regiment etc I so far have not discovered, but on the 1901 census of his wife & family, he was described as a reservist and was not at home, I can only assume therefore that he had been away fighting? in the Boer war at that time.
Thank you anyway for taking an interest, it is always apppreciated to have any news that may lead to the descendants I am seeking.
