You may have more luck posting on the Gloucestershire forum as Bristol was part of this county. I have family from Bristol and have had a very good reponse there.

Alas winette I checked my index for Harriet Palmer aged 2-6 in the 1841 census for Bristol. The only one I can see there is a 6 year old in Clifton. (also in Glos one aged 2 in Bourton on the water and a 4 year old in Flaxley) Unfortunately 1841 census does not list place of birth only if born in or outside the county. 1851 census is only indexed by head of household and others with diff name to head of household so alas if she is living with family she will not appear in that index at all. Do you have any further information on this girl as to parentage etc that may help the search.....Kris
Thanks Kris, all I have is a date 1837 & a place Bristol, all 3 could fit because ages are not often correct, she married a man born in 1828 so possibly it's the Clifton Harriet. She was married in Melbourne Victoria Australia 1858 so I'll see if I can find out how to get a Victorian Marriage cert, each State has a different place to apply. Winette

Well Kris I got the Cert today & the Harriet Palmer from Clifton is the right one. Her parents were Thomas & Elizabeth Palmer. The only problem there is that on the record of their marriage she is Elizabeth Broadis & on Harriet's marriage cert it looks like Elizabeth Roelich or Roctich so I'll have to look into that. Perhaps if get a film from the FHS Library it will tell me what her name really is. But cheers I am another generation further back. Winette
