Hello to all RootsChat Members,

Would anyone else be researching James BROWN and his wife Margaret CAMPBELL. They had eight children in Ochiltree, Ayrshire, Sct., from about 1827 onwards, viz: William, Robert, Catherine, James Campbell, David, Margaret, Marianne (Mary Ann), Janet Hannah.

James and Margaret BROWN continued to live out their life in Ayrshire.

On the Censuses they state that they were either born or originally from the Portpatrick and Stranraer areas of Wigtownshire, Sct.

Through family documentation I somehow get the feeling that James and Margaret BROWN (nee CAMPBELL) or their Parents, Grandparents, etc. perhaps originally came from Ayrshire. This we still have to prove.

Other Surnames that we know of that are linked to this family are; BAIRD, REID, HUTCHISON, GUTHRIE, WYL(L)IE, BURNS (BURNESS).

So if you feel that we may have some connection, please don't hesitate to get in touch, as it would be great to make contact with any descendants.

i am brown as well but i dont have any names that you have sorry
my names are from my ggg grandfather and his wife
joseph brown & margaret mcluskie and there son was joseph brown & his wife was elizabeth mcclinton 1854 and his son was william brown and his wife was mary carruth buchanan 1885. and his son was william brown and his wife was agnes murray 1913.
my gg grandfather was married in maybole. william & mary married in govan.william & agnes married in glasgow.

I cannot see a connection with our ancestry at this stage, also Joseph is not a name that was used within the family, as far as we know.
