I read somewhere - I think from Trystan - that Front Page was to be avoided unless it came gift wrapped in twenty pound notes!!! Mine came gift wrapped but sadly without the £20 notes.
Although fairly computer literate I am firmly in the 'silver surfer' bracket and the more postings I see the more I wonder if Front Page is the way forward for me.
Would it be wiser for me to find a simpler programme for my first venture into building a website?
At the moment I have my page from Trystan, Front Page, lots of information and plans for my site. Just need to get them all together!!!

I thought I followed all the instructions and it seemed to work. However....nothing seems to have happened. I've probably sent it somewhere completely different!!!
My husband thinks I should admit defeat - he should know me better than that!!
However I'm back to work tomorrow so will try again when I get back. Any help or suggestions would be welcome!!! I'm seriously frustrated with my own inability!!!

I've tried various ways as yet no success. I'm using the 'Coffee Cup' programme you suggested which is brilliant for dim wits like me. If I look at the photograph in the Image Preview pane it offers the option to Insert to current document as IMG Tag........not a clue what that means!!

I hope, I really do hope I now have a photograph on my website!!
I think I might know what the problem was. I have a copy of Front Page on my PC and whenever I edit a page it defaults to editing in Front Page. I know there are some problems uploading from Front Page so I uploaded the picture straight from RootsWeb this seemed ( I hope!!) to work.
I've been trying for so long I keep expecting it to vanish again!!!!!
Thank you all, especially Falkryn for your support and patience with this dim wit!!! 
I can now sort out the rest of it!!!!

My husband always maintains I don't know my own limitations and I think (after 35 years of marriage) he may be right!!!! I have, after a long struggle and with the support of Trystan and Falkryn, managed to upload some pages onto my site. http://lancaster-tree.rootschat.net/
Now I am firmly stuck!! I used Roots Magic to design the site but I don't like some of the ways it presents things and cannot find a way to edit them. it defaults to editing them in Front Page which is fine but I can't upload the edited pages! I have spent ages just trying to put a title under the photograph on the first page with no success.
Help!!! What am I doing wrong now....apart from refusing to admit that I'm too old for this.

Have you tried using the dos ftp utility to upload your files? It is relatively easy to use.

Thanks for your help. I've actually redesigned the whole thing and uploaded it again. Needs loads of work but at least I've made a start...I hope. This time I am avoiding Front Page!!

I think I'm getting there!  You must all be so fed up with me  but if it makes you feel any better I couldn't have done even this much without the wonderful support I've had on this site.

Hi Jo,
Coming on isn't it!!
Second Site I find very easy to use - but is limited in the extra pages you can use - I make a basic page on Second Site and then edit it with Front Page- that way you get the same background etc - Not the experts way I know- but until I have learnt more - it does for me!!
The next thing you can do is to add some photos - do it the same way as above - using Front Page also lets you use thumbnails as well - look quite good.
Have a look at my site - until a couple of months ago I had never uploaded anything - as you can see from my earlier requests for help!!

Make sure you save your special page files twice - that way when you make an error it is easy to go back to the original!
