My Fife names

Trying to find links to the following family members-----

John Bett born abt 1684 Crail married Isobell Norrie abt 1688 on 15 Oct 1709 they had son John Bett born Feb 1722 Crail he married Christian Hoggan born Feb 1730 at Auchtertool on 21st Dec 1754,they had a son Andrew Hoggan Bett born 5th Sept 1767 in Aberdour.


Andrew Hoggan born abt 1700 married Kaitherine Adamson born abt 1702 ---daughter Christian as noted above.

Any additional information or links to other trees would be much appreciated

Hi Taz,

There are a few people searching Hoggans. If you have a look on the Stirlingshire (Scotland) or the Hoggan surname board you might get a connection.

Here are a few Fife HOGGANs just in case - I don't know how common a name it is.

Thomas HOGGAN m Anna KEELER, 21 Aug 1761 in Beath, Fife
They had in Beath:
- Catherine HOGGAN bap 16 Aug 1762, d May 1842
- Isobel HOGGAN bap 23 Jan 1769

Catherine HOGGAN (see later) m James COUPER 12 Nov 1788 in Beath.
They had in Beath:
- Robert COOPER bap 6 Dec 1789, d 9 Oct 1857 at Priory Lane, Dunfermline.
  He m Cathrine ARNOT 1 Dec 1821 in Dunfermline.
  They had a son
  - James COOPER (see later) b 30 Dec 1822, d 11 Jan 1893 at Easter Blair, Ballingry (he is buried in the Aberdour Wester Old Cemetery).  James m Violet NASMYTH (daughter of the coalmaster of Donibristle Colliery) and they had several children
- Ann COOPER b 10 Dec 1791, d 2 Feb 1863 at Oakfield, Beath.  Ann m John PHILP of Grievesland, Kelty Beath and they had two daughters
- Thomas COOPER bap 10 Jul 1794
- James COOPER bap 30 Aug 1796

Catherine (HOGGAN) COOPER was recorded in the 1841 census at Kelty Beath with her son-in-law John PHILP, her daughter Ann, and their family.  John PHILP was my children's Gggguncle.

Catherine's grandson James COOPER (son of her son Robert) farmed Parkend, Aberdour which had previously been farmed by my children's LOCHTIE and PHILP ancestors.
