DEATHS IN GRETNA, Dfs...

... 1866 BIRRELL, Adam 85 yrs married to Janet COULTHARD (parents George BIRRELL & Ann Birrell nee ABERCROMBIE)

It's just speculation, but I'm guessing that the above-mentioned George BIRRELL was born circa 1752 to Adam BIRRELL & Janet ROME.  (Adam & Janet were my 7g-grandparents.)

Again, it's just speculation -- but the Birrell and Coulthard families of Gretna were pretty close-knit, and the ages certainly match up.  If you're interested in any of these families, let me know what you think.

Cheers,

Shane

SIMON RENWICK
« Reply #3 on: Tuesday 28 February 06 19:32 UTC (UK) »

I have two Simons on my family tree who I can't link up. First Simon Renwick baptized in Podmoor 18/1/1807 son of James b.1772. d.6/9/1848 at Dinwoodie Applegarth  married Agnes Bryden (Agnew) b.1776. d.10/2/1863. Simon had 3 brothers William, Thomas and James and 1 sister Margaret. The secon Simon is the son of the above William b.16/4/1803. d.21/9/1879. married Margaret McGhie, this Simon was born 1n 1840 and had 5 brothers and 2 sisters. Does any of this tie in with what you have or are looking for, Cheers Bruce. Smiley

I ahve attached the said marriage cert. It is surplus to my requirements as when you get one from scotlandspeople you usually get more than one on the same list. Hope you get it ok.

Hi Diane

I noticed the surname Harkness on a couple of your unwanted certificates, and I was wondering if you have a family connection.
A Lady called NICHOLAS HARKNESS c 1796 Middlebie, Dumfrieshire, father John, mother Ann Bell ( parents details off Death Cert )
She was married to one of my ancestors, Samuel Johnston, and lived in Springfield Gretna on the 1841 to 1871 census.
I can't find her marriage or Birth anywhere I look, have you seen her name anywhere while researching your tree?

Hello, it is nice to see some family connections. I've been having difficulty with the Renwick side of my family research. Simon's oldest brother James Renwick (Born Oct 15 1828 Johnstone By, Dumfries-shire, Scotland, Died June 23 1917 Grey South, Dromore Ontario, Canada) is my GGGrandfather. James married Jean Thompson.  They emmigrated to Canada in 1851.  James Renwick's parents I believe were William Renwick and Margaret Mcghie.  William's parents were James Renwick and Agnes Bryden.  That's as far as I have got.  Do you have any geneology information?
