Adding photo to "Profile"

(Sorry to double-up. I posted this under "Beginners" by mistake. Should have been here. Feeling very silly. )

Hi all. I'm relatively new here, but have already received an immense amount of help from other RootsChatters (thank you!).

This week I decided to personalise my "Profile" a little, but I'm having problems. I wanted to add a photo and tried to do it via the "upload my own crest" function. It didn't work at all. I could use the "browse" function to find the photo in my files, but when I clicked on "update profile", the profile page was shown with "Family Crest" highlighted in red, and my address link had been deleted.

I then corresponded with JonathanW (many thanks for being so patient) and read through the "beginners" pages.

I realised I was making a mistake by not removing the .jpg tag from the address. However, when I do this, the profile page shows a white box with a red cross in it (i.e. link doesn't work) and the address link is gone. It's different from before, but still not right...   8-(

I have tried with a number of different photos, all .jpg's and all very small, about 60kb.

(I can add a crest from the list on the profile page, no problem, but it won't accept my own photos.)

Sorry to ramble on, but I'd love to get this sorted. Anyone have any ideas? I'm not completely useless when it comes to computers, but I feel like a right thickie with this problem...!   8-)

Hi Julie,

if you go to the "Beginners / How to use RootsChat" board, you will find several topics on this theme.

See how the others did it, give it a try, (on one of those topics), and if you get stuck, there's lots of help there.
