Hi,
I was wondering if someone could help me find some of my relatives in Devon in 1841. One of them is Henry Taylor, who was born in Broadclyst in 1821. The others are his parents John and Ann Taylor. They were married in Broadclyst in 1792 and all their children were baptised there also. John's occupation is listed as gardener on his son's marriage certificate.
Any help would be appreciated.
Jane.

Hi Jane There are several possible Henry Taylors in Devon, none in Broadclist. If you post Henry's occupation, and wife's name if he was married before 1841, I'll narrow it down and post those. There are no Ann or John Taylors of right age in Broadclist - probably dead? Regards Jan

Thanks again Jan.
I suspected John and Ann may have been dead by 1841, but just wanted to check to be on the safe side.
Henry Taylor's occupation in 1861 and 1871 was a railway policeman, though the rest of the family at the time tended to be ag labs and farmers. I don't think Henry married until the late 1840's. It's also possible he may have been living around the Ottery St Mary region.
Hope this helps you.
Thanks,
Jane.

Hi again, These two seem the most likely ones, others either born out of county, or apparently living with a wife or wrong parents. Regards Jan

Hi Jan,
Sorry for the delay in replying. I've been having trouble logging onto RootsChat.
I suspect the Henry Taylor in Bradnich might be mine, because Henry's future wife came from Bradnich.
Thanks again for your help! Jane.
