Hi Geoff
I know this message was for deadants but I hope you dont mind me having the first go at it, I am sure deadants will put the building or something back into the background. I just took the easy option
This is dead easy, the tool to use is the Clone tool (PSP9) and 15 minutes.
I am working on a picture I took a couple of months ago of a row of terrace houses due for demolition and I am now trying to turn the clock back on it to 1900 when my Gt granfather lived in them, thats taking a car out from the front on the picture, rebuilding everything behind it, removing fence panels, alarms, modern street lights, aerials. So far it has taken about 15 hours work of stop/start undo/redo, but i am learning all the time. Practice makes perfect in the end
(Take2) OOopppssss had to re-upload picture, left large grey area around girls head, and cleaned blemish on lads arm
Regards Ken

Ken has shown that removing backgrounds is a fairly easy Job. You can take it one step further and relocate the subjects altogether.

If you have a graphics programe that can do masking than it's a fairly simple procedure. You apply a mask over the areas you want to keep than can select the unmasked area and delete it. The car door was a little tricky but nothing exceptional. You just have to get the hang of the clone stamp tool.
The photo does have two things going for it, it's in focus and the subjects are in perfect pose.

Hi shipwright, If you have photoshop there is a ocean full of tutorials on the net and librarys full of books on the program. The same goes for PSP9.
By the way, what model is thatr bridal car? The quarter windows and chrome wing mirror put it in the sixties by the look of it.

Geoff
You think you do a good job, then deadants comes along and betters it by 100% .
I did not even think to change the picture to the extent deadants has, so thats another valuable lesson learnt.
I really appreciate and I bet all the other trainee restorers appreciate the work deadants does for the forum, without his input on my work I would have lost interest some time ago.
Regards Ken

Ken and Deadants
I've been following this with interst and have saved the pics so I can zoom in and look at the finish on them.
