Can anyone tell me how to lookup from New Zealand birth records for 1805?Huh  All I Know is Benjamin Thompson was born about 1805 in Uppingham Rutland
(wherever that might be).  On his son's marriage certificate he is described as a gentleman, presume that means unemployed.  He later married Clare Silk in Richmond Surrey, and a Catherine Cannon later on.

Thanks for that,  are there any Thompson's around about that time in Rutland, his son had the middle name of Russell and that appears to be a trend in the family to incorporate a grandfather's name as a middle name.
