Looking for Arnold E Holt

Desperately seeking information about the above who emigrated after 1901.

Arnold E. Holt b. 182 in Oldham, Lancs.

Can find no trace since the 1901 census.

Would be really grateful if someone could solve this mystery for me.

Thanks for responding - No - is the honest answer.  Older family members say that he either went to Australia or New Zealand as a young man.

I picked him up on the 1901 census but can find no trace since.

I have put out feelers on the Australian board a while ago on another site (with no luck) and again today in the hope that someone may find him.

Any help you can give would be great.

I've found a probate (Will) for an Arnold HOLT died 1974 at Otorohanga (south of Hamilton, in the North Island). No occupation. Your birthdate was incomplete, but if your Arnold was born in ENG in Nov 1895 another ref might relate to him.

Thanks so much for the information, Arnold was born in Oldham in approx. 1882.

Does the probate record give any other details?

The only info I have is from the 1901 census when he was showing as aged 19 and was a Commercial Clerk.

The 1891 census also appears to confirm his birth as 1882.

That's all I have!

Sorry, that was all the pertinent information I would give you on the probate, and I don't think the other referecnes can relate to him if he was born as early as 1882.

I'll check the RGO death indexes for the age of Arnold HOLT d.1974.

Hi Rachel,

Arnold HOLT died 1974 at Otorohanga was aged 78 years, so doesn't appear to be your man.
