Does anyone have a book of memorial inscriptions for Fordyce Churchyard? I'm looking for James Taylor (died 1916) in Cullen and wife, Mary (née Simpson), who died 1917 in Aberdeen. Also looking for any other Taylors or Simpsons who may be buried there.
http://libindx.moray.gov.uk/mainmenu.asp you'll find a lot!! This should pull it up.Fordyce IGIs include 111532, 111533, 111534 Put a B in front for Births, and M for marriages.
But you won't find Fordyce burials or MIs. The parish of Fordyce is not part of the present Moray, any more than it was of the original County of Moray, therefore its burial grounds were not surveyed by Moray Council in 1978 and are not included in LIBINDX.
The best (pretty much the only) source for MIs in the part of the County of Banff outside Moray is the Aberdeen and North-East Scotland Family History Society's site http://www.abdnet.co.uk/mi-index/ where I see there is an index to unpublished MIs in Fordyce.
However the only Taylor listed is Robert Taylor, whose death date is not stated.
The burial records for Fordyce, if they still exist, are in the Registrar's office at Banff. See http://www.aberdeenshire.gov.uk/registrars/offices/banff.asp but be warned that Aberdeenshire Council charges £10 per hour for access to the burial ground records, even if you go there in person to do the work.

Thank you for your answer to my query. I already discovered the Robert Taylor buried in Fordyce, but haven't found (if any) a connection to my family yet.
It may be that James Taylor and Mary Simpson, mentioned above, don't have a headstone (although I find that unlikely), so the burial records may be the only way of finding more details.
Thank you once again, hume24
