Hi,
I'm stuck with some really common names, and not sure where to go from here.
The family are William Jones (b abt 1834 in Dawley) and his wife Ann (also 1834 Dawley) and their daughters Nancy and Adelaide. I have them in Walsall in 1861/71. Nancy was born there, but I don't know when William and Ann married or when they moved from Dawley.
Nancy's birth certificate doesn't help. It gives Ann's name as "late Smith, formerly Victor", but it might not be Victor, in fact it could almost be anything it is so difficult to read!!
There are numerous William Jones's listed on the IGI around the right time, and I've had no luck finding the marriage. I would really like to expand this branch, but don't know where to go from here. Does anyone have any advice?
Thanks, Diane

Do you have them in 1881?
If not, they are living at 100 Dunstall Road, Wolverhampton.

Have you put a request on the Shropshire Board for an 1851 look up in Dawley? William would be about 17 then and quite possibly may have left home.

Thanks for replying Lloydy.
I did have them in 1881, but thank you.
I can't remember if I put a request for the 51 census now, it was a while back I was concentrating on this branch. The trouble is I think there may be several William Jones of around the same age.
At least I have confirmed Ann's surname, as I sent for Adelaide's birth certificate too. On Nancy's it says Smith, formerly OWEN (not Victor .... believe me it did look like it!), and on Adelaides, it just says formerly Owen.
I'll put a request on now!
Diane
