1841 / 1851 Lookup Pls - Seabrook
« on: Tuesday 07 June 05 01:55 BST (UK) »

I am trying to find John Seabrook b1831c (this is the date on the 1861 and 1871 census).

He may be listed with a wife Elizabeth on the 1851 as I have not been able to find their marriage date yet.

His birth location on the census is Marylebone.  His trade has been listed as plumber and boiler maker on different documents.

His son Alfred is shown on the 1871 census as having been born at Marylebone in 1865 so presumably John lived there from his birth until he left and moved to Deptford sometime between 1865 and 1871.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Reyz,

I was wondering if I could indulge your consideration again as I have found something interesting which has caused me to theorise and was wondering if you could help me prove or disprove my theory.

I went looking for other Seabrooks who were also plumbers - working on the concept that often father/son or brothers went into the same trade.

I found one other who was also born in Marylebone and was of an age to be a younger brother to my John.

I found his family in 1861 consisting of:

John Seabrook 56 b Guildford Surrey
Martha             54 b Oxfordshire
William             14 b Marylebone (he was a plumber in 1881)
Emma               11 b Marylebone

At the same address was a:
Thomas Seabrook 19 who was possibly a son of John Seabrook although he is shown as head of his own household with a wife and baby.

My theory is that John and Martha were my Johns parents given that they are old enough for him to be one of their eldest children.  Martha would have been 25 when my John was born.

In 1861 John and Martha lived at 41 Bell St Marylebone (New Church).

Could you see if you can find this family on the 1851 census for me please.

Thanks
