Hi
I am looking for Robert Webb b:1818 in Dawley. I'd love to find his parents!
In 1851 he was living at Holly Hedge, Dawley with his wife Emma (1819) and children. I don't know if he was married in 1841 or not, the first child was born in 1842.
There are not many Webbs in Dawley, they all seem related in some way, so I would be happy to know about any you find

Hi Jane,
Thanks for pointing that out to me! How interesting 
I had already seen the census and IGI records for matthew Webb, I think he might be a cousin to my ancestor, I haven't cleared that up yet, But I knew nothing of his exploits. You never know what has happened in the depths of the family tree, do you.

There is a road named after him in Dawley. I rememer seeing it when I was trying to find one of my Relies graves at Holy Trinity, Dawley.
I was interestedas my daughter is a keen swimmer and there aren'y many famous swimmers.
There is lots about him on the web ( sorry )
