Please could someone with access to the 1841 and/or 1851 census for Cheshire (probably Tiverton but could be Bunbury) find an entry for Joseph Dutton, born c. 1797. Children could include Richard (c. 1831), Sarah (c. 1839) & William (c. 1842)? Thanks. dtlroots
I am a bit puzzled as to Richard's whereabouts in 1841, when he would have been about 10 to 13. I know that in 1861 he was married and living in Manchester, and that his brother William (aged 19) was staying with him.
I also know that Richard's father was called Joseph, and that in 1861 Joseph was still in Tiverton, widowed and that daughter Sarah (22) was living with him. I suppose that Richard could have been working elsewhere, perhaps in service and maybe in Manchester. In 1855 he married in Manchester, so he was quite likely there in 1851, but the relevant part of the Manchester census is almost entirely decayed.
