I recently bought a sketch from a local auction for £16 in a job lot of pictures. It is an original sketch and not a print and is signed M.Brown and on the reverse side is written; "Original sketch Manchester, Moss Side. Last did famous mural in Central station Manchester. In Manchester Evening News 1970's"
Abit of a confusing note (Central Station is now the GMex centre and I'm not sure whether the station mural or my sketch featured in the Manchester Evening news)
What I would like to know is who the artist was and wondered if anyone had any ideas or if you could tell me where/how I could find info. about the mural mentioned.
Sorry but there doesn't seem to be an attachment! Obvious choice would be Madox Brown I suppose. He was in Manchester when the Central Station was built but I don't know that he painted a mural for it. http://www.artrenewal.org/asp/database/art.asp?aid=511
