ADAMS Family - Wickford, Essex

I'm live in Ottawa, Canada and I'm trying to trace the Adams family that lived in Wickford, Essex in the late 50's early 60's.  My Aunt's name was Ruby with husband Lionel (Walter Lionel) Adams.  They had children Yvonne, Cleon, Wendy, Mavis and Robin.  Lionel was a police constable with the Essex County Police.
Any help, or leads, will be greatly appreciated,

There's an Yvonne Adams on genesreunited, born 1954 in Essex.    Person that's posted the tree is called Robin !

I'll leave a message asking if this is the family you're looking for.

Thank you so much...this looks like a great lead  !!  I'm going to follow it up on Genes Reunited.  I'll let you know how I make out...I'm actually quite excited at the idea I might have found my long lost cousins of some 50 years !!

Well it was great while it lasted but I have just realised that can't be my Adams family......Yvonne would have been much older than that !!  At the time I remember them in the late 50's she was already grown up and living away from home.

That's a shame - I thought the fact that it was entered by a Robin meant it had a really good chance of paying off.  Still, nothing ventured, nothing gained.  I'll keep fingers crossed the message pays off for you.

It might be worth trying the friendsreunited site in case any of the family are registered there.   Unfortunately I'm not a member of this so I can't contact anyone.

Only other thing I can think of is perhaps writing a letter to Essex Police asking if they would have a last known address for the family (I'm assuming he had a police pension........) and would they mind passing on an enclosed letter.  Or seeing if there's an association of some sort for ex-coppers!

Hi Helen,
Yes it was the combination of Robin and Yvonne that got me excited, it wasn't until later that I realized the age discrepancy.....I hadn't realized Robin was such a common name !!
Actually I have already emailed the Essex Police twice but unfortunately they haven't seen fit to reply !!  I also have a message posted on the Genes Reunited site. I'm just hoping I can find a lead to them.

The essex police museum seems to list a Walter Lionel ADAMS 1920 http://www.essex.police.uk/pages/offbeat/o_bt_mu2a.htm

they appear to do look ups for a small fee
