In need of any help regarding HOOK family
« on: Tuesday 31 August 04 20:50 BST (UK) »

Hi there,
I`m in need of help regarding the Hook family?
Has anyone any suggestions please??

William Hook
b1857 Gloucester, Gloucestershire, occupation=Miner

Hannah Hook
b1853 in Atherton, Lancashire

Charles Hook
b1880 in Atherton, Lancashire

They were all residing at an address in Atherton, Lancashire in the 1881 census.

Also a few doors away there was.
Isaac Hook
b1833 Gloucester, Gloucestershire
occupation=miner

Charlotte Hook
b1834 Gloucester, Gloucestershire

John Hook.. b1863 in Gloucester (Miner)

Thomas Hook..b1866 in Gloucester(Miner)

Fred Hook..b1868 in Gloucester

Henry Hook..b1871 in Gloucester

Elizabeth Hook..b1875 in Gloucester

The 1891 census in Lancashire showed, William and his family from the first address had moved on?? .... also in the Isaac household, another Issac had arrived...aged 18...born Gloucester.

Henry had gone missing, but Harry the grandson had arrived aged 5 *LOL* .... i can`t seem to locate them once they leave and hoped someone could tell me just what it is my Hook`s are doing?? .... I have from the 1901 census John`s household... Thomas`s household and also Isaac, Frederick and Elizabeth`s, none of them have an Harry in there families.....and yes you guessed....Harry is missing again *LOL* .... Where are they going??? please....any help or suggestion would be much appreciated. *has an headache*

Hi again,

There is something odd about the 1891 census on ancestry.

There is a Henry Hook (dob 1865?) born West Dean Gloucestershire, should be living Whitecroft but when going to the page he is not there  Huh

Will investigate further.  Harry the grandson was born Gloucestershire so perhaps he is Henry's son.

Hi Susan

I`ve noticed that problem a couple of times when doing look-ups for people.  I`ve tried going back a few pages then forward, but still not found who I was looking for  Huh

Hi,

Found him 3 pages earlier  Huh  Huh

1891 (forgot to make note of piece no. and folio) bother......  but living Brick Yard, Whitecroft.

Henry Hook   Head   Mar   26    Coal Miner   b: Gloucestershire West Dean
Linnie Hook   Wife   Mar    22                                            ditto

I don't know if this is correct Henry,  ages do vary in census!  But as Harry (grandson) was staying with grandparents in 1891 and was born Gloucestershire could be correct.

Hope this helps

Hi,

Have found a birth for Isaac Hook 1871.  I wonder if this is in fact Henry?   Roll Eyes

Isaac Hook  1871  June qtr.  District  Monmouth   Vol. 11a  Page 19

Monmouth would have been the registration district for West Dean, Gloucestershire.

Might be worth sending for the birth certificate to verify his parents names.

You can apply online at www.1837online.com  to order certificates direct from the GRO quoting the ref. details as above it will cost £7.00.

Good luck
