Well done!! Isn't it exiting. I found family in Canada and my gt niece is currently living in London so we met up which was great. Your site just keeps getting better! Love the photograph on your first page. I'm still plodding on - major computer problems. I thought I could manage with my old one until I finally retired but it finally rebelled and I have had to invest in a new one. The old one still works as a word processor and thats all my husband needs so he's happy. New one is great except that for reasons which are beyond me when I click on the thumbnails they open in my browser!! Think I might need Bob's help! Unless you've come across this. I expect it's blindingly obvious!! Keep going you're a great inspiration to me - and I expect loads of others - and again thanks for all your support Jo

Thanks for those comments - I am slow at learning new things at my age - so most of it is trail and error - with peoples help!!
Not quite sure what you mean re thumbnails - where are the thumbnails on your site?
If you hover over the photo and right click your mouse you will get options of how and where your want things to open - might try that - otherwise will leave to the experts!!
By the way this arrived this morning - haven't worked out yet if he is a relation but not bothered if he isn't as it's interesting to find what other people are doing regarding the Bateman Name!!
" I have just come upon your site and wonder if you might be able to help me with an enquiry.
I am working on a research project on the cannon preserved in the City of Derry, some of which were sent over in early 1642 (probably between May and July) by the London Companies in response to the Great Rebellion which broke out at the end of 1641. Thanks to the completeness of the company records, I know the names of a number of the merchants and craftsmen involved - including a Thomas Bateman who made the wheels for a number of the gun carriages.
I wonder if this is any relation of yours? I attach the sparse information that I have for your consideration"
Then he gives me a list of Batemans who were Wheelwrights in the "Company of Wheelwrights" in London - all I know at the moment is that a couple of mine were Blacksmiths - and a cousin (not a Bateman) was a Wheelwright - so off we go again on a new track!!
So it just show you PAUL - get your website up and running!!

Fantastic news Keith ............ I too have had great results in the past couple of weeks ............ a new cousin in Canada ......... AND MORE IMPORTANTLY a 1st cousin in London that I lost contact with 35 years ago who ...... would you believe sent me a photo of my dad that was taken before I was born and which occupied a place on our mantleshelf in Paddington 60 years ago and which I remember but never had a copy of. I owe a lot to rootschat. joboy
It's brilliant isn't it - you must be dead chuffed to have a photo of your dad from all that time ago.
And what a memory you have to remember it on your mantlepiece!!
The world is definitely getting smaller!!
