Hi If they are in Cheshire I should be able to find them. Can you please give address and all details from 1861 census also do you have a place and date of death for Adam.

I have Adam's death certificate. He died on the 5th of January 1881 in 6 Barber St, macclesfield. He worked as a labourer. I apologise, but I did find an entry on the 1861 censys through ancestry.co.uk, but now can only find the 1871 census entry, in which he still lived in 6 Barber Street. I know that his daughter Rachael was born in 1852 in Lunt Hill, Macclesfield so it is possible that they lived there at the time of the 1851 census. I have continued looking on ancestry.co.uk, and I still cannot find the 1861 census. It was obviously only the 1871 entry on there.

Hi The Proctor family are indexed in Ancestry under the name Prester ! Ancestry transcribers sure do keep you on your toes.

I noticed on the Cheshire BMD website that there was a birth of an Adam Proctor in Sutton 1845 and a death for the same 1846, wondered if he is one of yours ?

That's great. The Elizabeth on the 1851 census must either be from his first marriage, but I think she's probably from his second marriage, as I just received the marriage certificate for Mary and Adam, and they got married in 1838. The granddaughter - she came up on the 1871 census as well, and I still haven't figured out who she belongs to! Any recommendations as to how I could find that out?
Prester huh? Weird! How did you find out that it was under that? Because if that has happened once, it has me wondering if other 1861 census entries for individuals haven't come up for similar reasons.
Yes, the Adam you saw on the Cheshire BMD is one of mine. I got his death certificate yesterday, which confirmed it. It's really sad how bad the infant mortality rate was in the 1800s. It's one of the slightly depressing things about doing the research sometimes.
