Thank you Debbie.

Did it say that Job was the son of Thomas Andrews?  I'd rather like his father to be called Job as well!

May I be cheeky and ask if you can find Ann Alexander also in Bulford?  Another looker up (is that the right word?) has come up with her as a possible wife for Job Andrews and she should be born in Bulford in about 1844.

Thanks

Hi again,

Unfortunately I only have the transcription which says what I posted.  However there is this entry in 1861:

RG9/1311 31 04
Cottage, Bulford, Wiltshire
Christain Andrews 68 Amesbury, Wiltshire, Wife
Job Andrews 24 Bulford, Wiltshire, Son Ag Lab
Thomas Andrews 69 Bulford, Wiltshire, Head Ag Lab

Probably not what you wanted to hear  Sad

Sorry also no sign of any Alexanders in Bulford.  Any ideas of parents' names in order to have a wider search?

Hello Debbie

Thank you once again.  As you say that seems to make the parents pretty clear although Mum's name varies from Catherine to Christian - probably a difficult one to decipher from the original.

So now I must post a look up request for their marriage.

Regards

hi verona,
I am also researching the Andrews of Wiltshire, but as yet have not been able to make a connection although many of the names are similar, found this on IGI hope it makes a connection for you.

son of John Andrews and Mary Tinham/Tenham they were married 26 Jan 1789 Bulford.

Thomas married Mrs Charlotte Andrews abt 1819,Bulford Wilt.

following children
Eliza      13 Mar 1820
Charlotte  28 Dec 1822
Elizabeth  7  Jan 1825
John       1 Feb  1828
Thomas     1 Jun  1830
Samuel     21 Aug 1835
Job        chr    1837
hope this helps.

Hello Jericho

Thanks for that.  That information certainly looks as though it fits in.

The trouble is that this is the third name for Job's mother!  I've now got Christian, Cathering and Charlotte.

I'm always a bit wary of using the IGI when there is an entry which says "Mr John Doe married Mrs John Doe" and gives a date a year before the first available baptism - I think they are just a guess to fill in someone's gaps.

Isn't it frustrating, from my point of view, that Job is the only child not given a full baptism date - suggests yet again that whoever put it on IGI was guessing.  Do you know if the Bulford registers are available?

Many thanks once again.

My father was brought up by the Andrews family in East Meon -one of Job's children married my great-aunt.  Do your Andrews move into Hampshire or are they more stationary?

regards

hi verona,
I agree with you about the IGI,although I have had a bit of success with it.Because I'm unaware of the geographical layout of Wiltshire, I'm not totally sure how far apart each of the areas that my ancestors resided in but here goes,Bishops Canning Southbroom,Bromham,Devies,Wilsford and Chippenham. My research into my Andrews family goes back to about 1682.About 1830 my Andrews went to Somerset, then my 4x greatgrandfather packed up his family and emigrated to New Zealand in 1842.Have not gone any futher than 1830 in England so somewhere along the line there could very well be a connection. Good luck with your research.
