I've just done a look up on the 1861 census, the family is living in Yorkshire but the husbands place of birth quite clearly states Lincolns Lynn, I assume it means Lincolnshire but where is Lynn, I cann't find it on my map.

I can only assume it's the area close to Kings Lynn (which is of course in Norfolk) - when people have move far from home, they often name the nearest large town as their birthplace.

Thanks Geoff, Kings Lynn hadn't crossed my mind but I'm not really well up on that part of the country.

Thanks for your input Valda but I think I'll explore the Kings Lynn option first as his occupationwas a fisherman though there where probably fishing boats operating out of London in the 1850's.

If it was John Berry he quite clearly states his birthplace as Lynn Norfolk on the 1871 census. Regards Valda

Hi Valda,
Thanks for that info about John Berry on the 1871 census.
Checking through my records I seem to have missed asking for an 1871 look up for this family so if you have access to the rest of his family (wife is Alice born Bridlington Quay and any children) I would be most grateful.
many thanks
Bee
