hi
can anyone help with this
looking for marriage of CHARLES BARNES married  ELLEN ROUSE in 1881
lived at 44 knutsford street balsall heath, kings norton, worcestershire,
i have hit a solid brick wall with this

you have several towns mixed up in your address.  balsall heath is just south of birmingham city centre, near kings heath and moseley.  kings norton is a good 7 miles away.  i believe birmingham was under the warwickshire county in the 1800's i dont recall it being in worcestershire.  you could try birmingham central library for information.

               thanks for your reply, but i live in kings heath, i have birth certs
that say kings norton worcester and some say aston warwickshire both at the same address,
so they must have changed the bounderies at some time in the 1800s
there is no trace of the marriage so i assume he did not marry ellen,
also there are two children he had in his second marriage that look like he did not register them, a bit of a dark horse i think.

The 1881 census has Ellen Heyden (or something like that) lodging with Charles at this address.

Balsall Heath seems to have been registered at Kings Norton WOR until 1894, then Kings Norton WAR from 1894 until 1912, then Birmingham WAR. Confusing Smiley
