« on: Friday 10 June 05 16:10 UTC (UK) »

I have a Jean Angus born 1792 in gayfield. She was married in 1813 in Applegarth. I haven't been able to find Gayfield - is it in Dumfries please?

Hiya,

On a previous look up in Applegarth

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,11916.0.html

One of your Toolan children, William is born at Gayfield.

The OPR for Applegarth & Sibbaldie are in columns as per the images posted.  The gayfield reference will be a farm or cottage for William so I expect this is where Jean is born as well.

It would be unusual fro a woman to marry too far from her home parish.

Hope this helps,
Pam
