Hi lubbie- Saw some of your previous posts. I found these -
1871 Census   RG10/3744 folio 122 - page 23
3 Castle Buildings - Albion St
John         Kehoe Head  Age 30  Tailor      Born Chesh, Stockport
Winifred              Wife   Age 30                 Born Ireland
Mary                    Dtr       "    8    Scholar   Chesh B'Head
Ann Jane             Dtr             6        "               "       "
Cath.                   Dtr             3                        "       "
John                    Son            1                        "       "
Mich.?                  Boarder    33     Tailor          "       "

RG10/3744 folio 117 - page 23
87 Albion St
Patrick Kehoe     Head    Age 51   Tailor      Born Ireland
Mary                   Wife            50                             "
The reason I added these is because he lives in the same street/ has same profession as John and Mich.?
If you look on 1881 census your family are at 93 Albion St and Patrick and Mary are still No. 87  - When you see your family on 1881 just click a few times on 'previous household' and you will find Patrick at No. 87.

I would guess that may be his father. Hope this helps

Hi agin    I'm confused too. Do you think you might have the birth for a different John?
I wonder if it's possible to be born in Stockport but be registered in Birkenhead? Someone wiser than me might know.Maybe your family were there for a short time then came to Birkenhead.I f Michael + Ann were related to them they may have been visiting when your John Keogh was born.
Try the Cheshire BMD - input Keogh-Birkenhead -no initial.  John+Anthony Keogh are there but both in 1843. It's a possibility. Click on the ref no for an application. If you put the parents as John+Winifred and the details don't match they wouldn't be able to send the cert so you could eliminate him,.
They are both also on the Free BMD ( in Wirral)
Other than that your nearest main library might have the GRO index - you could try the births for Keoghs/Kehoes around that time.   Good Luck.

Thanks for your help. What i know is that my g grandmother Winifred Keogh married my g grandfather in 1894. Her father was john Keogh and when looking on the census for them it says that he was born in stockport in about 1842 but the only birth i can find is for 1845. I wonder if there was another john born in 1842 and not on any of the sites, as Winifred only appears in Cheshire bmd under the spelling kehoe. Could you tell me what info they put on a death certificate do they put date of birth as well as death?
many thanks for your help Lubbie
