1841 Census - TRAVIS
« on: Friday 10 June 05 23:02 BST (UK) »

Hi,

I'm looking for James TRAVIS (36) and wife Elizabeth, or Betty (36), in Dukinfield in the  1841 census.  In 1851 and 61 he was a cotton overlooker on George Street.

Their son John (b. 1828 Dukifield) married in 1850 and was a butcher in Ashton-under-Lyne from 1851 on.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Hi Arkay

They are there in 1841 and in the same street.

HO107-109-06-Page 13  George Street Dukinfield

James Travis 35 overlooker
Elizabeth       35
John              13
Elizabeth       1

Apart from Elizabeth it says born out of county, this may be due to local boundary changes only.

hope this helps

Hi Peter,

Thanks very much for your help!  Now that I know about young Elizabeth, I will perhaps be able to request her birth birth cert. and possibly find out more info about the family.

All the best,
