ANN BELSHAM b. 1832/33 Stepney, married WILLIAM GARDNER
in 1857, Bethnal Green. Their marriage
certificate states her father as being WILLIAM BELSHAM, carpenter.
This is the only information I have on my Belsham ancestors. If
anyone knows anything about this family name, perhaps they
would be kind enough to contact me.

Hello
There were no Belshams in 1851 Bethnal green or Whitechapel
I have found the name in the 1851 surname only index for St George in the East
Ref HO 107/1547 folio 514
Someone will hopefully look up this reference for you in the actual census.

Again, many thanks for your input. Unfortunately the marriage occured in 1857 and they were not at the same address in either 1851 nor 1861, so that didn't help. The couple in question had been a wee bit naughty and had 2 children and another on the way before they decided to tie the knot.  Although the marriage took place in Bethnal Green, they were living in Limehouse for the birth of their first two children, so I was clutching at straws looking for them at an address in Bethnal Green.
