In full awareness that WARD is/was a very common name in this part of the UK, I remain in constant hope that someone out there can help me break down my brick wall, which would help me to answer which of the SAMUEL WARD's born around 1795 belong to my family - being three of them! In fact, I am not really sure if I am looking for ONE or if I am looking for TWO of them, as I have two Ward's marrying each other, and they could easily be cousins, but just as easily may not be. Both families go back to a SAMUEL WARD though!
What I do know for sure though, is the following:
JAMES WARD, born abt. 1818 was the son of SAMUEL WARD according to his marriage certificate when he married ANN WOODHEAD in 1841 in the Parish Church of Leeds.
Known children of this couple were:
JOHN WARD born 1842 MARTHA WARD born 1843 MARY ANN WARD born 1849 BENJAMIN LEE WARD born 1849 LOUISA A. WARD born 1854
EDEN WARD born 1854 married EMMANUEL WARD born 1849 at the Parish Church of Calverley in 1872
ROSE EMILY WARD born 1857
Husband of Eden Ward - Emmanuel Ward (above) was the son of JOHN WARD born 1820 (also the son of SAMUEL WARD and married to MARY BOOCOCK in 1841
They also had the following children:
MARY ANN WARD born 1842 SAMUEL WARD born 1847 ISAAC WARD born 1852 JOSEPH WARD born 1854 JAMES H. WARD born 1864
Eden & Emmanuel had the following known children:
CHARLES H. WARD born 1872 ELIZABETH WARD born 1874 MARY WARD born 1875 HARRIETT WARD born 1877 EMMANUEL WARD born 1879 EDEN WARD born 1880 GRACE RAMSEY WARD born 1883 married JOHN BROWN 1906 HENRY E. WARD born 1885 BENJAMIN WARD born 1889 LISTER WARD born 1890 DORIS WARD born 1898
If anyone has any connection to this family I would love to hear from them, and am very willing to share information.

Hi Marion, So sorry, but I am unable to help you at all. My Ward family basically stayed around the Pudsey, Farsley and Stanningly area, west of Leeds and I have no indication that they might be related to any Wards from other parts of Yorkshire. Good luck with your research, Diana

Jon, How marvellous! Thankyou so much! Have had a quick look at the website, now I am going back to indulge myself for an hour or two! It looks great and I cannot thank you enough for pointing me in the right direction. Cheers, Diana (Far North Queensland, Australia)
