Hi Irene,
Are you still stuck!!
Only just seen this post!
Regarding your other post - I phoned up Market Drayton library this morning and they have all the local census returns from 1841 -1901 - so send me what you want and I will have a trip out there. It will have to be in a week as at the moment I am "dog sitting" and don't want to leave him for too long. I expect they will have some parish records - but didn't ask about them - will only cover the local area - but that might be Norton.
If anyone can help in the meantime please do so - save me a trip!!
Cheers
Keith

Hi Keith, Thanks for the contact. A very kind person "Allie" looked up the 1851 census for me and this further confused me! I think I have been up the wrong tree for many years. Actually since about 1991 when I paid a researcher - since then I have proved some aspects of his findings to be incorrect and now it seems like there may be more!!
Basically what I need to know are any details that appear on the marriage between Joseph Hunt and Hannah Bloore 31 Dec 1829 at Adderley.
Then the baptism of their son James Hunt at Norton in Hales on 21 Feb 1830.
Then the death/burial of Hannah Hunt at Norton-in-Hales in the March Qtr of 1838.
Then the death/burial of Joseph Hunt in the March Qtr of 1848.
I am of the opinion that there was a daughter born to Joseph & Hannah sometime between their son James (1830) and the death of Hannah in 1838 but most likely in 1833.
I have just rec'd the marriage certificate for Joseph Hunt and his second wife Esther Janott in 1841 and it says his father was also Joseph Hunt whereas the "researcher" told me his father was John Hunt.
Also I recall that in 1841 census (I can't find it anywhere now) that Joseph, Esther, James and this female child lived in Market Drayton.
So anything will help.
Thanks Keith.
Cheers, Irene

Hi Irene,
First the Good News!!
From the 1841 Market Drayton Census.
HO107 899 Town Street. Joseph Hunt - 30 - Ag Labour - born in County N(o) Esther Hunt - 35 - N(o) James Hunt - 11 - Y(es) Rodith Hunt - 8 - (female) - Y(es)
I printed off the page if you would like a not very good copy let me have your email and I will send it to you.
Now the bad news!!
They only had the Parish records for Market Drayton and didn't know who would have the others - however I have looked at the Shropshire Archives site and they are listed in their online catalogue - so will give them a ring and see if anywhere else has them - I hope to go "sometime" for myself but perhaps you can get someone else quicker!!
Cheers
Keith

Hi Keith, Thanks for the census info - ridiculously I saw it and wrote the info down when I was in England back in 1998 and now can't find the note book. But it was exactly as I remembered. This is what led me to believe that Joseph Hunt married a second time.
I have now ordered the death certificates for Hannah Hunt in 1838 (Ihope to prove that this is Joseph's first wife) and Joseph Hunt in 1848. Don't know what they might have that will help but even an age at death for both would be an advantage. In Hannah's case so I can determine if I have the right parents for her and in Joseph's case just purely so I can start the huge search for his parentage now that I know the one's I have had for the last 14 years are wrong!
The other thing I have been interested in is the 8 year old girl Rodith Hunt - I have always assumed that she is the daughter of Joseph and first wife Hannah. It is of course possible that she was Esther's daughter but Esther was a spinster at marriage in 1841 (doesn't mean a thing of course) and also Hannah's mother's (if I have the right one) name was Rhoda.
And then I can't find this Rodith anywhere after 1841. So she's a mystery!!
I'll let you know what I come up with as soon as certificates arrive.
Cheers, Irene
PS I believe there's a big festival or something coming up in Whitchurch soon. I saw something on it regarding one of Whitchurch's favourite sons Sir Edward German. His name was actually Edward German Jones and he was my husband's grandfather's first cousin. Their mothers were sisters. Eliza and Betsey Cox. Betsey married John David Jones and Eliza married James Hunt (the 11 year old on the 1841 census you got for me)! So there is a little bit of Whitchurch history for you.
