I guess for many during the Blitz it was a regular event to turn the lights out, but some would never see the light of day. One such case was Martha (Kyne) and John Goodwin, William Selley and daughter (AGE 18) Lilian Primrose SELLEY.
Earlier in the day they were celebrating a birthday party in a local establishment, but returned to the GOODWIN digs on New North Road to continue the celebrations. But it wasn't birthday cake candles that lit up the night sky. The four of them would never see the light of day or celebrate another birthday after 1941.

Thanks for reading. And the saddest part is young Lilian was supposed to go elsewhere with a boy friend instead of returning with the adults to the Shoreditch abode. Sadly, she returned with the elders for the final farewell.
