Alfreton 1851 lookup please

I am looking for Joseph Radford and wife Elizabeth, who were living in Summercotes (Somercotes) Alfreton in 1861. He should be 40 in 1851 gives place of birth as Blackwell.

The 1851 name index has the following Radford's in the "2145" registration area but unfortunately most are initial only   Undecided   I'll give you the details and enable you to decide.

Joseph Radford - 41
E. [F] - 39
W. [M] - 13
J. [M] - 6
M. [F] - 2
H. [F] - 6m

                          (HO107/ 2145/ 546/ 50)

I tried to identify this family in 1841 to verify if it the right family but was disapointed to find some of the Somercotes pages are blackened and unreadable, nevertheless I did find this Radford family which match in some respects but not others (Ann not Elizabeth ??) -

1841

Cotes Park, Somercotes

Joseph Radford     30    Coal Miner     born in county - yes
Ann Radford          25                                   yes
Mary Radford          5                                   yes
William Radford       3                                   yes

                                        (HO107/ 193/ 5/ 4)

Anyway I'll leave you to figure it out.   Grin

Hi Sue,

Thank you so much. The 1851 is definitely him - shame there are no other details. I guess his profession is not even given. I also think the 1841 is him also. An Ann Radford died in Belper reg. district 1841 and a Joseph Radford married in 1842. I suspect these events are connected. I bit more work for me to do.
