Hello Kev,

You may recall you found my lot via soundex on the 1901 mistranscribed as Rawlins.

I know you've told me before how you did it, butI wonder whether you mind telling me again as if you speaking to a 5 year old.

Thanks very much

Hi David
Don't know how Kev found them, but I did it by putting John born Shrewsbury whenever it was plus/minus 2yrs and looking through images of anyone who came up with a surname looking remotely like Rowson. Can be labourious but only way of finding some of the more bizarre mistrancriptions/ odd forms of names. Hope that helps. I've been having another look for Albert but to no avail  Cry

Hi, pretty much how Jan said.

But i think i searched for John Rowson born Shrewsbury and under exact search. But when you go to exact search there is a drop down box at the top right that says exact if you click the arrow the soundex option comes up. Select it then search.

I may have just done what Jan says though as i use that method quite often.
