Does anybody know these Mor(r)isons? With the exception of Alexander, this is all that is known about them, seems like they all disappeared into thin air ...
Andrew MORISON married Margaret BAIRD, 2 Nov 1800 in Falkirk, Stirlingshire, Scotland. The actual OPR record says nothing other than 'both of this parish' i.e. Falkirk, it doesn't mention any variants such as Landward.
They had 5 children: William. Born on 17 Apr 1804 Christened on 29 Apr 1804 in Old or West Kilpatrick, Dunbarton, Scotland.
Mary. Born on 5 Jan 1806 in Old or West Kilpatrick, Dunbarton, Scotland. Christened on 19 Jan 1806.
Christian. Born on 4 Oct 1807 Christened on 11 Oct 1807 in Old Kilpatrick, Dunbarton, Scotland.
Alexander Born on 19 Nov 1809, christened on 3 Dec 1809 in Old or West Kilpatrick. Alexander died in Barnford, Drymen, Stirling, Scotland on 2 Jul 1889, aged 79. He married Mary Stirling in Killearn on 26th Nov 1830 by which time he was spelling his name Morrison.
Andrew. Born on 14 Sep 1811. Christened on 22 Sep 1811 in Old Kilpatrick, Dunbarton, Scotland.
I am at a complete standstill, the new SP was paid for on the strength of my contributions and even the DNA project has not thrown up any connections.
Any and all ideas appreciated.
thanks,
Lindsay

Hi winniep,
I know Lindsay won't mind me jumping in here - she's my best pal!
The information available on-line for Plean Asylum or William Simpson's Asylum is pretty sketchy. This (part of Tom Paterson's site) is about as much as I've ever found: http://web.ukonline.co.uk/tom.paterson/places/SAstnin5.htm
The building is still there, but is now a respite centre. If you go to this link, it has a picture: http://www.eshra.com/homes/williamsimpson.htm
I've recently photographed and transcribed Plean Churchyard (just across the road) and there are three grave stones bearing on average, 15 names each and stating that these men were 'inmates' of the asylum.
I also discovered, again recently, that 3 of my partner's ancestors were born there between 1875 and 1880. This info came from their birth certificates which I thought was a bit strange as I would have imagined around this time, births were usually at home so possibly it was used as a hospital of sorts.
If your great grandmother died in the asylum, can you presume she was living in Plean prior to this? If so, either post her details or PM me with them and I'll see if there are any stones in the Churchyard with names to match amongst the few that still exist.
Anne

winniep,
I've just realised, I've been rabbiting on about Plean Asylum and you asked about Larbert Asylum (laterally known as Bellsdyke Hosptal) - a totally different place!
Sorry!
Anne

Anne, that is just the most creative and unique graphic/illustration I have seen.
Trees are my thing and I must have 100 photos of single trees which I hope tin incorporate into my family tree booklet IF I ever get to a stopping place.
Thanks for a nice feeling today, Betty
