William MIDDLETON (born c. 1837 Aberdeen Scotland) was a photographer who was mananging partner of several Yorkshire & Derbyshire branches of the country-wide firm of A & G Taylor's photographic studios from the late 1870s until the late 1890s. He and his wife Jane (born c. 1844-45 Calder Bridge Cumberland) lived in or near Sheffield during this time.
I wonder if anyone has come across any sightings of this William MIDDLETON in Cumberland, please, in the 1860s or 1870s? I would be very grateful for details of his and Jane's marriage if anyone can find it.
I am researching his life and career for a profile that I am compiling as part of my web site devoted to Victorian & Edwardian Derbyshire Photographers and Photographic Studios, and would be very grateful for any information.
Thank you very much. Regards and best wishes,

Hi Ron,
Good to hear from you again, and thanks for responding to this posting, which I must admit I'd almost forgotten about. As you can gather, I haven't had much joy with the Cumberland angle, but I'd be very grateful for examples of his work from Derby, Sheffield & Nottingham, please. You know my email address, of course.
By the way, I have a couple of examples of cabinet cards by an E.M. Middleton in Aberdeen - I wonder if he is a relation?
Regards and best wishes, Brett

Thank you very much, Ron. The images received okay, and will make a nice addition to the series for A & G Taylor of Derby and William Middleton. It's interesting that ther should be unrelated Middleton photographers from the same city in Scotland, but I guess it was a common surname.
Regards and best wishes, Brett
