Found mention of a Rev Joseph BLIGHT which might be the father.

Oh, good heavens! That makes seven Methodist ministers in my family's history in the space of about 50 years!  Cheesy Cheesy  In fact looking at the Who's Who bio, Rev William Blight would have been teaching at the Theological College when my father was there as a student.

It all falls neatly into place now, starting with Rev Wm's birth in Dargaville, the town where the Stallworthys lived before moving down to Auckland.
