If you are just wanting to know if someone was awarded an Honour, you can search the following

Or The Time Index which can be accessed though some libraries, or you can register with Bedford Online Library at

http://www.galaxy.bedfordshire.gov.uk/cgi-bin/vlib

If you know someone  was awarded an Honour but want to know when, you could write to

Thanks to harrywrag for opening this thread and thanks to Milly and Jebber for posting useful links. The April edition of "Your Family Tree" has a short article about ancestors who received honours. In addition to the links on this thread the article suggests searching for newspaper cuttings in the local studies sections of local libraries if you have the name of an ancestor but you don't know the date when they were given an honour.
