Sometimes even close relatives don't know the ages of the deceased. My cousin registred her mother's death and then later found out she was really much older than the age her mother always gave. My own father was convinced my younger sister was actually older than me when he was filling out the census form years ago.

Thanks,the person concerned is given as 76 years old when he died in 1954,and 45 years old when he married in 1926.His given Father on the Marriage Certificate was born in 1864!

One of mine died "aged 62" as registered by his 47 year old son.

His wife died "aged 69", registered by another son whose brother was by this time aged 60.

Actual ages about 74 and 81.

Yes Geoff,there are no certainties in Family History!I have a good one,the age of a Wife is given as 39 in a Census year,two years later her Husband,who was the informant at her Death gives her age as 51!
