Searching for LOWTHER family in Bath or Bradford-upon-Avon

I have managed to trace my ancestors back to Bradford-on-Avon to approx 1775 (Launcelot Lowther). I am now trying to link this ancestor with another collection of Lowthers that moved to Bath in 1785. The years don't overlap directly, but I'm hoping there may be some link as Bradford is only about 7 or 8 miles from Bath. If I can prove a link, then I should be able to trace my family tree back much further.

I have a reference book (The Lowther Family Tree by Hugh Owen) that says there is a memorial in Bath Abbey to Frances Ponsonby.

The details are:

"Frances Ponsonby daughter of Chambre Brabazon Ponsonby married George Lowther III (In Ireland I believe). She then moved to Bath in approx 1785. She died on 19th Jan 1802 age 52. The memorial was erected by her children."

I also have a reference (Piggots directory) that says my ancestor (Launcelot Lowther) was a banker in Bradford-upon-Avon.

I would have thought that both Frances Ponsonby (who is listed as Frances Lowther on the memorial), and Launcelot Lowther would have been quite well respected people and so would probably be mentioned in several different sources. However, I can't find anything to link them. I'm sure a visit to the records office in Bath and Trowbridge might reveal more details, but this is difficult for me to do at the moment. Could anyone suggest further lines of enquiry, or some more sources??

I've checked with the Wiltshire wills record to see if Launcelot Lowther had a will, but I couldn't find anything. And since Bath is in Somerset I don't think they will have anything for Frances Lowther (Ponsonby)

Any help would be much appreciated.

dont know if we connect anywhere or maybe these names are a coincidence?
my great aunt alice marshall married a william lockhart chambre moore brabazon in 1944

If you Google Launcelot Lowther Bradford on Avon you will find a Rootsweb message that gives full fetails of the family from a Mike Page.
