Looking for info David Wright b.1811 Lochrutton and Janet Renwick m.1839 Kirkmichael.
It is believed his parents were William Wright and Elizabeth Maconachie, but I have nothing to back this up.
David was, prior to emigrating to NZ in 1861, Stationmaster at Nethercleugh.
David and Janet and their children Thomas b.1843, Elizabeth b.1846, Janet b.1851, James Renwick (my gg) b.1852 Applegarth, Mary Ann Jane b.1853 and Sarah b.26.9.1855 Applegarth arrived in NZ in 1861 on the Lady Egidia.
I can trace all the children apart from Thomas who may have returned to Scotland.
David and Janet also had 2 other children Jean b.6.1.1840 Kirkmichael and William b.1841 Kirkmichael who didnt come to NZ and I can find nothing further about them.
Any help appreciated.

Hi vortex

Sorry we haven't been able to help you so far on this one.

Have you made any progress,  or do you have any further details that could help someone to find what you are looking for?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes

Hi

On behalf of an old friend I am looking for information about the Wright family that came to New Zealand. He is the grandson of Sarah Wright (born 1855) and is interested in finding out about what happened to her brothers and sisters and their families. Any help would be great!

Hi
Your Janet Renwick was born in Kirkmichael 1811. Parents were James Renwick born 1771 and Agnes Bryden born 1776 both at Johnstone. Children of James and Agnes were {my gggrandfather} William born 16/4/1803 at Wamphray, Thomas born 1805 at Wamphray, Simon born 1807 at Kirkmichael, Janet born 1811 at Kirkmichael, James 1812 at Kirkmichael, then another son also named Thomas in 1858 at Kirkmicheal. It wasn't uncommon to name another child after one who had died. I haven't got further back than James and Agnes but hope to tie him in with the famous James Renwick the covenanter who was hanged in Edinburgh in 1688. I hope I've been of help to you.
Regards
