Do any records exsist for someone who emmigrated to Canada from England in 1913? I am searching for records for my Grandmother Mary Agnes Harrod born Guildford,Surrey 1883 . Last location I had for her is from the 1901 England Census at Little Dunmow,Essex. I do not know which port she came to in Canada for sure but believe it to be Montreal. I have read many passenger lists on microfilm in Canada but no luck. Is there someone who could help me with my search from your end?
On a cold and rainy day, I decided to go looking through the Immigration section on the Canadian Genealogy Centre site for information on Mary A. Harrod.
The site has lots of information and links on Immigration, including one for the Nanaimo Family History Society, Passenger List Indexing Project: “Our aim is to index arrivals at Halifax and Québec (Montréal is included in the Port of Québec) from 1900 to about 1921”.
This project is ongoing, but you might want to bookmark it for future reference. (Unless, of course, someone else can come up with the information!)

Alot of the times even though they came to Canada, they went to Ellis Island and then up to Canada. I know my gr-grandfather who was from Chertsey, Surrey came to Canada through Ellis Island in 1913.
Coming down the St. Lawrence from Quebec was extremely rough, worse than the ocean crossing, not that it was easier going up the Erie Canal, but apparently if they had their choice they would go up the canal.
Another thing is that only in the spring, summer and fall did they go to Quebec. The winter time they went into Nova Scotia.

Who all came to Canada in a little row boat, clap clap, clap your hands!!
And just to note: the link to Ellis Island is one of many on the Canadian Genealogy Centre site. I did try a search for Mary on there, but couldn't find her..
