Hi,

is anyone able to look up a birth for me?

it's for Leonard Barraclough born about 1917 (he died in WWII as a young man so can't be too sure when). He was probably born in the Wortley area.

This is the only Leonard Barraclough born 1916-1918

Leonard Barraclough/ Registered Wortley / Sept Qtr 1918
Mothers maiden name Smith / volume 9c page 631

I didn't expect the mothers maiden name as well - was that from 1837.online?

Yes it was from 1837 online.  From about the middle of 1911 , the information also includes Mothers maiden name. Makes life a lot easier......

I've just checked on the cwgc site and he died sept '43 aged 25 so this must be him.
I can start working my way backwards in time now Smiley

Me again.....

Don't know if it will be of any relevance , but I have just found a marriage for a Henry Barraclough to a Priscilla Smith , which took place in Leeds 1914........

You can view it , download the application form on the Yorkshirebmd website.......Just in case you don't know about it..very useful if you are researching in Leeds....
