1871 census Tiverton

On the 1871 census for Tiverton, Devon Rg10/2170, my relative Helen Martin is described as British School Mistress. Does this refer to a specific school? Any information would be most welcome.

On the 1871 Census Helen Martin is living at Bampton Street, Tiverton, there is no one else at this address (private dwelling)

Thank you for the e-mail. I really wanted to know if anyone knew more about the British School in Tiverton in 1871 because Helen Martin came down from Ayr to teach there.

I think the name of the school was Blundell High School. if you 'Google' the name you will find many pages relating to the school.
