Why is Cumberland so poor in terms of online information, it has to be the worst county. As new sites come online it always seem the same old counties!

UKBMD No! NBI No! FreeCen Nah! FamilyHistoryOnline Nope! Does Cindy know of Cumberland?

I offered freecen the 1871 Census for Whitehaven-sent them it in fact, I've never had a reply!!

FamilyHistoryOnline depends largely, but not exclusively, on information from Family History Societies. The Cumbria FHS www.cumbriafhs.com has published indexes to much of the 1851 census in booklet form, and Carlisle Marriage Licence Bonds. FamilyHistoryOnline will accept data from, and pay royalties to, individuals. Major points are 1) copyright is clear 2) the FHS is not planning to do same within 6 months.  We'd love WhiteHaven 1871.
