If anyone has access to the late 18th century parish records for Stanton by Bridge, I am interetsed in the following person:
Lydia Ward, born Stanton by Bridge c 1798
I would like any details, particularly her parentage.
Cheers
Mark

Thanks
Yes, I had seen the IGI entries you mentioned. Its one of those quandries you get now and then: A baptism for a (probably) not too unusual name, that is just far enough away from the later census birth locations (on 1851, 61 and 71) to leave some doubt. She was also married in Stanton in 1821.
Stanton By Bridge is 25km from the centre of Derby.
I also believe that Lydia herself was in Birmingham (under her married name of Cubley) in 1841 but am yet to check that out (although her childrens birth locations either side of 1841 appear to point that way). I was just hoping that something would actually turn up in Stanton itself. I'm not sure at the moment that I can really go with the idea of these Lydia Wards being one and the same. Its a dilemma!
But the Robert Ward entry may help, although it is a common name. I could find no death for an Ann Ward in the vicinity of Stanton between 1800 and 1841. The death of such a person might have helped with the Robert/Ann parentage line.
There is a 1792 entry for a John Ward birth in Ingleby but there are no parents named and it clouds the issue even more because Ingleby is right next door to Stanton, but the later children appear to be baptised in Derby and are then settled in Stanton! Its possible they were all baptised at a church in Derby whilst living in Ingleby/Stanton. I'm not sure how much of Stanton records are on the IGI so there may be holes anyway.
Hmmmmm....

Just for info...
I have at least found out that the Robert Ward in Stanton was the licensed victualler at the Dog & Duck, in 1827 and 1835.
Not that it helps a great deal other than one would expect he will have left a will which hopefully would mention Lydia (if she is in fact his daughter).
MAYBE THATS MY NEXT LINE...
Cheers

Does anybody have the 1851 census details for Robert Ward mentioned earlier (probably aged about 90) as I have the death of a Robert Ward in the Shardlow district in 1852, and need to know if he was still alive in 1851.
Cheers
