James Vasey
« on: Thursday 16 June 05 10:05 BST (UK) »

Can anyone help me find:

James Vasey b1847 in Alloa

I have found him in the 1881 Census where he was living in Sunderland, Durham.
He was a Bill Poster by trade and married Elizabeth from Lincolnshire.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Do you have thier marriage cert at all or know where they married?

I found a match in berkshire
James VASEY married Eliza BUTLER
this information has Eliza older than James whereas on census James is eldest.

I also checked freebmd and found a James VASEY married Elizabeth CURD

Surname  First name(s)    District  Vol  Page
~~~~~~~~
Marriages Dec 1879
~~~~~~~~

Vasey  James    Camberwell  1d 1123

You can order the cert for this marroage online,

Camberwell borders Surrey and London area and is now classed as Southwark district.

I did chek for the birth record for James too, but didn't find anything.
If you manage to find the correct marriage cert that will gove you a fathers name to go on too.

Hi there Sadsack!!

My husband's great granddad was James Edward Vasey born in Alloa around 1847. He married an Elizabeth from Lincolnshire, their children were all born in Sunderland. The children were Albert or Alfred, Mary E., John J., Robert H., Alvina and Eveline. My husband's grandfather was Robert Henry. Seems like same family -perhaps we can share information?

Hi Crisrbow (long lost cousin HuhHuhHuh)

I haven't been into my family tree for a few months, I hit a brick wall and couldn't seem to get anywhere.  However; you may have woken my interest up.  I would bee keen to keep in touch and help you with any questions I may be able to answer.  I have trawled through all the graveyards (sad I know) in Sunderland in search of the Vasey family.  I have found a fair few but none of the names I was looking for, armed with the details you sent me I will have another look at the headstones and maybe some of them belong in our family after all.  I have four of the five census available on disk for the Durham area if there is anyone you would like me to look up, if you send me more details of the people you mentioned I will try my best to find out what I can.

Hope to hear from you soon

Hi Sadsack

It would be my husband you'd be cousin to! But happy to have a cousin-by-marriage! Have just begun to do a little research on Vasey family, so I probably have same info as you. James was born in Alloa, waiting for more information there.The family lived in8 Woodbine Street, then 50 Thomson Street and then 45 Thomson street.  Robert Henry who was my husband Robert's grandfather was married to Daisy Tindall and they had three girls, Caroline, Mary and Vera, all dead now. He (RH) had very green eyes. The only other sibling I knew was Alvina - known as Ally.She married Richard Bellas (Dickie) they had one sone, Richard, and one died as a baby. All gone now but they were all cremated - may explain why you can't find graves? What is your connection with the family? We have some old photos. Where are you? We are in Bedfordshire. Any questions I can help with?
