On February 1st 1864, Harriet Davies gave birth to Ellen Elizabeth Louisa Davies at 50, Keynsham Street, Cheltenham, (I'm told its still there).
No father is given, or fathers occupation, so it seems she was an unmarried mother. Ellen her daughter was my cousins grandmother.
Ellen's daughter never spoke of her grandparents, only of an Aunt Flo, who may be buried in the churchyard on St Peters Street, Radford, Nottingham, but this may be totally irrelevant.
Can anyone lookup Harriet in 1861, and 1851 if available, but I'm guessing that Cheltenham is where was on either occasion.
Regards Bob.

There's a couple of Harriet(t) Davi(e)s in Cheltenham that I can see of the right sort of age who might be contenders: RG9/1799 folio 8 170a High St Cheltenham Harriet Davies lodger unmarried 23 shopwoman born Cheltenham (she is the only occupant of 170a)
RG9/1801 folio 104 1 Promenade, Cheltenham St mary Harriett Davis servant unm 18 servant b Bridstow Hereford Sarah Davis servant unm 21 servant b Bridstow in household of Daniel Alder 62 bookseller & stationer
But with no details other a name and a child's date of birth it's a bit difficult to know how far to widen the net!
That might be significant, especially if anyone can find her in 1871.
Regards Bob.
